This pattern provides instructions for knitting frames that accommodate a 3 1/2″ square Zentangle tile. A fiber-y way to make a special and unique frame for your tangles! This pattern was totally inspired by Carol Meldrum (30 Min-Knits) and Lorilee Beltman (Holey Squares Scarf).
Yarn: #5 bulky
Needles: #7 dpn
Finished Size: 5 ¼ x 5 ¼”
To begin, cast on 44 stitches.Divide the stitches onto four double point needles.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: * K 10, yo, k1, yo* repeat from * to * 3 times (52 sts).
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: *K 12, yo, k1, yo* repeat from * to * 3 times (60 sts).
Row 5: Knit
Row 6: *K 14, yo, k1, yo * repeat from * to * 3 times (68 sts).
Row 7: Knit
Row 8: *k 16, yo, k1, yo* repeat from * to * 3 times (76 sts).
Row 9: Knit
Bind off and weave in loose ends with a yarn needle. Block and press lightly with steam iron. I made mine in one color but stripes are possible too—experiment and have fun!
