I attended a fantastic workshop June 6-10 at the Madeline Island School of the Arts in Wisconsin. Gwen Marston taught Abstract Quilts in Solids and it was much more than a “quilting class”–WOW!!! She is so inspirational and fabulous–I loved every minute of it! My participation was funded, in part, by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, which is a great gift. Gwen’s approach to visual art is so freeing and liberating–just what I needed. If it’s too long, cut it off. If it’s too short, add a piece. Start simple. Do what you like. If it doesn’t work, do something else.
